Class and Memorial Endowments

Class of 1982 Endowment

On the occassion of the Class of 1982's thirty-five year reunion, alumnae felt moved to remember a classmate, Brigitte, who had her life cut short in a tragic automobile accident many years ago. As with every class endowment, all gifts given by the Class of 1982 will be be held in perpetuity by the Little Flower Academy Foundation for the benefit of future generations of LFA Angels. The gift principal, which grows with every gift to the fund, will generate interest that will support Financial Aid at LFA.

At the request of members of the Class of 1982 at the event of their 35th Reunion, the endowment gift for graduates of 1982 are made in Memory of Brigitte Massot '82.

The legacy of the Class of 1982 will be, in part, to support those students who might otherwise not be able to attend the LFA in future years. On behalf of the future generations of LFA students who will benefit from your generosity, thank you.

Brigitte Massot '82
Brigitte walked the halls of LFA for five years and thrived on the school spirit alongside her classmates. She had saved enough money over the years with summer jobs, then in 1984, set out on an 18-month backpacking trip through Europe: she was a kibbutz volunteer in Israel, cycled 1500 km of French country roads with her sister, and visited several countries by train - as far north as northern Sweden. Two precious items were always at hand in her backpack: a tightly wrapped and detailed journal and her small, richly annotated, travel Bible.

Upon her return, she knew her calling in life; her gentle nature, attentive, thoughtful ways and listening heart led her to become a much-loved social worker. With a UBC Master’s Degree in hand, she headed east to the Kootenays where she cared for adults with special needs, native youth and families. She made Nelson her home, bought a house, tending to her garden and to the local community. She enjoyed exploring nature’s splendour in this part of the province, from hikes along mountain ridges to winter camping in the valleys, she was dedicated to a job she loved and was deeply appreciated over the few years she lived there - until her life was suddenly cut short. Her five years at LFA bore much fruit, as all those who knew and loved her can attest.
